The Sky Glitches on Sundays, an excerpt from emerge 21: The Writer’s Studio Anthology

ABOUT

Nikoli Varga is a Canadian-Hungarian author whose cross-cultural upbringing between Toronto and Budapest fostered a lasting interest in the themes of identity and belonging. A graduate of the Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University, he studied fiction under several mentors while developing his first novel-length manuscript, The Sky Glitches on Sundays — a coming-of-age story navigating cultural disconnection and the search for self.

After moving to Seoul in 2016, Nikoli immersed himself in the city’s complex history and social fabric, which shaped the setting and emotional core of his second novel, The Karaoke Man. He is currently seeking representation for this upmarket literary neo-noir: a story about a black-market organ trafficker who, after losing his children in a building collapse, infiltrates the empire responsible — only to discover that revenge can't free him from the secrets he's buried.
